Our Piitoayis Family School performance drum group had a second opportunity to work with Darcy Turning Robe this week. He offered us teachings about sage and how we might use this medicine to help us walk in a good way, speak in a good way, and have a good day. We also looked at the tobacco and talked about making an offering to Na’a. It was very special to have the tobacco and sage on the table in front of us while we drummed.
This week we worked on Kitsikakomim and an honour song.
As a learning leader, I had the opportunity to speak with Darcy after drum group and he offered teachings about the history of Moh’kinstis and niitsitapi (the original people). We talked about the sacred site where the river makes an elbow and how the water holds our songs.
